So much culture shock...

There is plenty to tell you about...

...and it is only the third day.  Despite my best efforts the jet lag (9pm mountain time Noon here) is catching up with me but more is to come.

Just one anecdote for now.  The generic word for "fish"  is 물고기 (mool-go-gi)  witch means litteraly "water-meat"  That makes me laugh everytime.  I still was not sure that my wife was not pulling my leg untill we saw some fish in the water under a bridge.  A high school girl (you could tell by the uniform )called out to them:  "mool-go-gi! mool-go-gi-a!"

I can relate, everytime I see a pidgion in Denver walking around I call to it "Pidgoen Pidgeon!"

May 30 at 16:00 hours in Korea...

The south continues to keep watch ovet the Imjin river.

Psudo Science Sunday Episode 1: Reflexology Park

Yesterday while walking around the Ilsan Lake Park across the street from Hiyoung's parent's house I noticed a sign that, in English, "Barefoot Park".  So we went to look at it and were greeted with the diagram of a foot and the reflexology  homunculi points on it.  We walked around the sign and saw that there were shelves to put your shoes so you could walk the paths paved with stones of various sizes and textures.  Not one to shy away from a little uncomfortableness and underestamating how even round stones feel after walking on them for a few minutes.
It is good to see that the city of Go-yang is taking an intrest in the health and well being of their citizens but I doubt that this will help much more than an emotional boost of a good foot massage (I really don't know I don't like massages) and feeling of acomplishment because it really hurt after a while.

And besides this dosn't hit the spot that really need reflexologising like the supposed sex organ linked achilles tendon.

Hiyoung says...

It was very beautiful.

I am so proud of my home where is placed in this place.

Many young people tried to say Eric "Hello," " Hi" in English.

It was funny but nice.

It is just the first day...

We are having fun now..YEAH!!!!
Hiyoung and I went for a walk around the lake that is across the street from her parents house.  It was well rewarded.  This is on one end that is shallow.

It was Saturday but there were scores of highschool students around.  A end of the school year outing perhaps?  After that we slept untill 8:00.  And I promise that I will get hiyoung to contribute.

And so it begins...

We made it here to Korea and are in Hiyoung's parents house. I am dead tired and will start tomorrow with this tool of communication.

Not from the Future...

I am not posting From the Future but have switched the time to Korean Time... Even though we are not there yet...
I am testing out using texting to post something.

Sorting through our things

We were going through my clothes to get rid of anything that I could bear to lose forever...sigh. (I am a collector by nature [e.g. Magic the Gathering])

I parted with most of the old shirts and worn pants okay but hemmed and hawed over one shirt in particular...

However, the thing that clinched losing it was the awful backside.

We are now done with school and work and are starting work on getting everything ready for our trip. We are moving out of our apartment over the summer and have to get ready for that.

As for what I will do here...

I plan to use the name to my advantage and take a picture of what I or Hiyoung are doing at 16:00 hours local time every day.

Till next time

Not Technically Correct...

It will be slightly less than 1600 hours that I will actually be in Korea. But 1584 hours 50 minutes is hard to remember. I will be in the air 1600 hours from when i was in the air before. My plane leaves May 27th and I will lead up to that time telling you what I plan on doing with this blog.
